Parinacota & Acotango volcanoes
The Acotango and Parinacota volcanoes are two beautiful mountains that are over 6,000 meters high and are located on the border between Chile and Bolivia.
After acclimatizing in Putre (Chile) and crossing the border between Chile and Bolivia, you reach the town of Sajama, located at approximately 4,200 meters.
The Acotango volcano, at 6,053 meters, is the first of the two six-thousanders to climb. It is a quick and short climb to its highest point, where you have to walk through firm snowfields before the ridge that connects directly to the summit.
The next day you can rest and visit the beautiful geysers and the spectacular hot springs of Sajama.
The day of climbing the Parinacota volcano, at 6,376 meters, begins very early directly from the hostel in Sajama.
Although it is a long climb, it does not offer any complex steps, making it very attractive and you can enjoy every step on the way to the summit.
