Trekking en Campo de Hielo Norte

Los días 18 a 27 de febrero realizamos uno de los trekkings más hermosos en plena Patagonia de Chile: Campos de Hielo Norte. La intención era alcanzar la cima del Monte Mocho, a la entrada de la meseta de los hielos continentales norte, pero como siempre en estas latitudes quien tiene la última palabra es el clima quien, esta vez, no permitió acercarnos.

Aun así, realizamos un muy mojado ascenso a través de valles, lagos y bosques hasta la entrada del glaciar, pudiendo contemplar el maravilloso paisaje que nos rodeaba. Fuertes vientos que levantaban las carpas durante la noche y una incesante lluvia nos acompañaron todo el viaje, impidiendo continuar el ascenso. Igual no dejó de sorprendernos con un maravilloso y único entorno. Una experiencia inolvidable.

Aprovechamos, también, de visitar un poco atendido valle —Hernández—, en un trek de casi 9 kms. que nos dejó frente a imponentes cumbres y glaciates, con una hermosa laguna a sus pies, a través de frondosos bosques, extensos ríos y bajo un radiante sol.

Feliticitaciones a Cata, Sara, Cathy y Andrés por el tremendo esfuerzo y ánimo en cada húmedo día del viaje y al apoyo y trabajo de Moisés y Maikol durante el viaje.

Ya volveremos, esperemos, con un tiempo más amigables por esas maravillosas tierras.

Trekking in Northern Ice Field

From February 18th to 27th, we embarked on one of the most breathtaking treks in the chilean Patagonia: Northern Ice Field. Our goal was to reach the summit of Monte Mocho, located at the east face of the Northern Continental Ice Field. However, as is often in these latitudes, the weather had the final say, and we were unable to reach the top of the mountain.

Despite the challenging conditions, we undertook a wet and windy ascent through valleys, lakes, and forests, reaching the entrance of the glacier. The breathtaking landscape surrounding us was a constant source of awe.

Strong winds that lifted our tents during the night and relentless rain accompanied us throughout the journey, making it impossible to continue the ascent. Nevertheless, the unique environment still left us speechless.

This was an unforgettable experience. We also took the opportunity to visit the lesser-known Hernández Valley, embarking on a 9 km trek that led us to imposing peaks and glaciers, with a stunning lake at their feet. We hiked through lush forests, extensive rivers, and under radiant sunshine.

Congratulations to Cata, Sara, Cathy, and Andrés for their tremendous effort and enthusiasm on each rainy day of the trip, and to Moisés and Maikol for their support and hard work during the journey. We hope to return soon, with more favorable weather, to explore these incredible lands once again.
